Taste

Sweet and citrusy

How it is made

It is made from the distillation of the laraha orange peel, combined with sugar and other flavoring agents to create its signature taste.

History

The origins of Blue Curaçao date back to the 19th century on the island of Curaçao, where local distillers began experimenting with the bitter laraha orange. De Kuyper, a Dutch company founded in 1695, popularized this liqueur, and it has since become a favorite in cocktail culture worldwide.

In cocktails

Bartenders often use De Kuyper Blue Curaçao to create visually stunning cocktails, such as the Blue Lagoon or Blue Hawaiian. It can be served on the rocks, blended into frozen drinks, or used as a colorful float in layered cocktails. Its sweet and citrusy flavor pairs well with a variety of spirits, making it versatile in mixology.

Worth knowing

Despite its name, Blue Curaçao does not have any connection to the blue waters of Curaçao; the color is purely for aesthetic purposes in cocktails.
