How it is made

Blanco tequila is made from the fermented juice of the blue agave plant, primarily grown in the region surrounding the city of Tequila, Mexico. The agave hearts, or piñas, are harvested, cooked, and then fermented before being distilled to create the final spirit.

History

Tequila has its roots in the indigenous cultures of Mexico, where fermented agave beverages have been produced for centuries. The first commercial distillery was established in the 17th century, and the production of tequila has since evolved into a highly regulated industry. Blanco tequila emerged as a popular choice in the 20th century, particularly in cocktails.

In cocktails

Bartenders often use blanco tequila in cocktails such as Margaritas, Tequila Sunrises, and Palomas. Its versatility allows it to be paired with a variety of mixers, from citrus juices to soda. For serving, it can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or as a base for cocktails, making it a staple in many bars.

Worth knowing

Blanco tequila is often considered the purest form of tequila, showcasing the true flavors of the agave plant.
