How it is made
Strawberry flavored vodka is typically made by infusing high-quality vodka with natural or artificial strawberry flavoring. The infusion process can involve steeping fresh strawberries in vodka or using flavor extracts to achieve the desired taste. This results in a spirit that captures the essence of strawberries while maintaining the smoothness of vodka.
History
The concept of flavored vodka emerged in Eastern Europe, particularly in Russia and Poland, where fruits and herbs were often used to enhance the spirit. Strawberry flavored vodka gained popularity in the late 20th century as vodka became a global phenomenon, appealing to a wider audience looking for sweeter, fruitier options in cocktails.
In cocktails
Bartenders often use strawberry flavored vodka in cocktails like strawberry daiquiris, fruit martinis, and summer spritzers. It can be served neat, on the rocks, or as a base for mixed drinks. When using it in cocktails, balancing the sweetness with citrus or herbal elements can enhance the overall flavor profile.
Worth knowing
Strawberry flavored vodka can also be used in desserts, such as strawberry-flavored cakes or as a drizzle over ice cream.
